how it got built
01the problem

fruit goes bad in the bowl before anyone gets around to eating it — and in Chihuahua's heat it happens twice as fast.

02the design

an enclosure built around the gas sensor, the temperature and humidity sensor, the microcontroller and the rest of the electronics. vented on purpose, so air actually reaches the sensors and the readings mean something.

03the prototype

printed the shell, wired the components, calibrated it, and tested it in different kitchens and with different fruit. the first unit didn't survive: a dog got to it. unplanned destructive testing.

04where it is now

v2 is done: safety improvements to rule out electrical faults, plus a reworked interface and notifications. the first 4 units are presold and paid, shipping this month, and the presale stays open until the first 20.
